I just received two CD's of Nick's from his persistent sister Annie yesterday, and yes I have known Nick for thirty something years but we are not close friends (i.e. I've maybe seen him 2 or 3 times in thirty years).
This 2008 recording from Nick's adopted home of Germany is just TOO FUCKING GOOD! after two listenings I'd have to rank it as one of the best by any honky that I've ever heard! Where to start? The guitar playing is gobsmacking wonderful, as complex as you could want, soulful, punchy, enlivened, supremely informed, the equal of most of its influences and sources which includes RGD & Blake. His singing is surprisingly effective and his ear for the pronunciation of words fitting the shape of the music is impeccable. I forgot to mention that the singing is also just plain excellent and enjoyable. GET THIS FUCKING RECORD! WOW!
Its on the Blue Lizard Label
