I've been fooling around with a bunch of Furry Lewis songs lately, so I've also been poking around in my CDs and videos. The first quote comes from the brief liner notes to the Fat Possum release, Good Morning Judge and is unattributed and quite possibly apocryphal, though sounds rather like Furry. The second one is in the booklet for the DVD Legends of Country Blues Guitar Vol 3 - Blues Up the Country, which quotes Furry's line about his first guitar, built at around age 12, from Margaret McKee and Fred Chisenhall's Beale Black & Blue: Life and Music on Black America?s Main Street. Which I have not read myself.
