Post by: uncle bud on March 16, 2014, 07:45:29 PM: Hi Lyle - I should have phrased that better, but I was using "clam" without the 'i' in the sense of mistake on the guitar. Before demonstrating Rev. Gary Davis's 'The Great Change in Me' in a class at the Port Townsend workshop, Ari had described a certain very tricky part of the song as "the pinnacle", where Gary Davis is singing over a fast series of partial chords. A friend had given this spot in the song the name. It might have been Nick Perls, but I would have to doublecheck. Ari liked it, so it stuck. When he then played the song himself in the class and got to "the pinnacle", he flubbed something -- barely -- and said in his very dry way, while still blazing through the song, "I just blew the pinnacle."
