When Woody Guthrie was singing hillbilly songs on a little Los Angeles radio station in the late 1930s he used to mail out a small mimeographed songbook to listeners who wanted the words to his songs. On the bottom of one page appeared the following: This song is Copyrighted in U.S., under Seal of Copyright #154085, for a period of 28 years, and anybody caught singin' it without our permission, will be mighty good friends of our'n, cause we don't give a dern. Publish it. Write it. Sing it. Swing to it. Yodel it. We wrote it, that's all we wanted to do - Pete Seeger, on Woody, June 67
For the record, and in case anyone is wondering, if you tried to access the site a couple of days ago and couldn't navigate past an error that appeared on all pages, here's what happened.
The issue was on the server side where a default setting changed in a new release of some site admin software. This triggered the error.
With the help of our host provider we identified the problem, changed that one setting and it's now fixed. Thank you to all who reported it.
I'd like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all who identified and rectified the problem! I can't even imagine how to determine what would have caused such an issue, given the miles of coding that must be involved. Thank you so much! Sincerely yours, Johnm
Agreed, thanks for the quick fix and the work you admins do. I saw the problem, but I don't know how to report them. John Miller may be the only person on here whose contact info I might have, and I did not pursue tracking him down. I figured somebody had to be on top of it! Dave
