It has been reliably reported that the bus with the performers that accompanied him pulled out of town, leaving him behind on the streets of Houston, still drunk - Doctor Clayton is ditched by his band after showing up under the influence at a dance gig for 3,000 people in Houston, Houston Informer, August 29, 1942
Naturally I like the look of the reso if it's old and the real thing.. failing which something old.... I would like to see you doing George Formby number on the a uke
Seriously though, wouldn't like to pick one out. They all look pretty damn gorgeous. I suppose you can bring a selection as you're a local lad. I particularly like the look of that sunburst ukulele - and most of the guitars come to that.
Looking forward to meeting you and your guitars.
(I didn't dare give the original and still more common name of the Bearded reedling for fear of setting Richard off...)
Richard: George Formby did not play a ukulele! He played a banjo-ukelele (note English spelling). I think I'm going to bring my ukulele next week. Perhaps we can start a breakaway ukulele group, or just play ukes to annoy Phil.

I was rather taken with the one I tried here recently particularly as is had a sort of dead easy, no-pressure action. So it didn't feel as though it would cut me fingers to ribbons, unlike a guitar does after twenty mins! That's what comes of playing lap of course and I'll say that before somebody else does
What I really like is that you are obviously tuned into this from work
