Pal Of Mine Blind Willie McTell
« on: January 17, 2013, 08:15:34 AM »
Greetings all..I just finished a neck set on a 60s Harmony 12-string and knocked of this approximation of BWMs Pal O Mine while doing the sound clip for the guitar.
I love listening to and playing this song, and did some research on it.  Not sure of the accuracy but it appears it was a WWI era pop song, but totally different from McTell's versions.  I couldn't find any transition songs from the original to McTell's, but I guess that's just more evidence of McTell's musical genius.
Hope you like it, Tom

What a pretty tune that is!  Really a nice job, and nice singing, too, Tom.  Your time and touch really does justice to McTell's sound.
All best,
Johnm

Wow, that's a very good job Onewent, thought it was the man himself for a few seconds. I love this song!

Fantastic Onewent, how smoothly the guitar and the singing combines. Sounds like you've played this one for years.

By the way, I have the sheet music for the original song; I'll try to dig it out and scan it this weekend.

@banjochris:  cool, I'll look forward to it!

Thanks, dj, for the National Jukebox link (in the 'pop music' post)  I checked it out and there is a '22 version of this tune sung by Charles Harrison called 'Call Me Back Pal O Mine'

And thanks all for the kind words, Tom

Well played Sir.
It is a terrific number for uke as well.
Any sign of the original sheet music yet?
