How can you design a guitar for a genre of music?
you can be sure that the marketing boys will be happy to answer THAT question.

I never did consider myself no fancy guitar player - Tampa Red, quoted in the liner notes to Don't Jive Me

Re underpants: I once had a gig at a nudist colony. No underpants in sight. Not very authentic either. Still....they liked their blues. Normally I like to maintain eye contact with the audience but it was a tad difficult for the first set.
Re Marketing: I guess they already have had a crack at marketing guitars for genres by putting artist names on them - the Robert Johnson and Eric Clapton models etc. Apparently the Eric Clapton model is Martin's biggest seller. pete1951
Were tight underpants the reason for Skip James vocal range?
(we are getting a bit off subject) Would anyone play better if they had on a pair of Eric C. underpants? (see how I put us back on track) I know I don`t Pete T Wow..some crazy stuff! .. from authentic guitars to tighty-whitees to gigs at nudist camps! I guess this thread's done..! Tom
I see despite a mention of Clapton nobody has been brave enough to ask the really salient question, which is what underpants did RJ wear or was that what the missing photo 4b was all about
Let`s start a really good thread on underpants!.As we all know the finest underpants always start with a really good thread! .
Terrible joke i`m sorry!. lyndvs pete1951
Jokes about pants...... this is the thin end of the wedge......(should that be wedgie)
Lets get back to guitar stuff, G-strings and such, Now theres a thought, would you play better with an Eric C. G-string on? Maybe we are stretching this thread too far? Pete T Mister Steve
This might also be the thread to state that my axe of choice for everything these days and it seemed to happen overnight is a cheapo Yamaha CG111S with somewhat high action...love playin' that 12-fretter, LOL...

This might also be the thread to state that my axe of choice for everything these days and it seemed to happen overnight is a cheapo Yamaha CG111S with somewhat high action...love playin' that 12-fretter, LOL... reminds me of the story about skip james pretty much flooring a bunch of guitar nerds by almost choosing a Yamaha in the shop that time, until he surmised that he might have to send this japanese guitar to japan to get it worked on. i bet there were some scrambled self-concepts in the room! Some guitars just fit the player.
I have a couple of pretty expensive guitars. I still find myself reaching, as often as not, for a bottom end martin dreadnought, or a battered Harmony Stella 12 fretter much of the time. Mister Steve
Just got back from the local shop where I picked up that CG111S and traded back the Yamaha dread for another CG111S as a backup and maybe to teach my wife guitar on! Opened up 3 boxes to get the one I really liked! A discontinued model...but not for me. With LaBella 2001's CG Light Tensions these guitars are VERY nice players, even with the factory higher action...with the latest I picked up a standout that competes with guitars more than 3 times the price.
