Here's an obscure MJB/Memphis Minnie tune that Neil Harpe and I recorded recently. Hope you may like it.

One of the last words of advice we got from Jim Dickinson was "Get less accurate tuners" - Jimbo Mathus, South Memphis String Band, at Music in the Hall

Gerry Very cool gents. Very good singing. What make was the guitar on right of screen, the amped one ?
That guitar was made by Gibson circa 1930/1. It's one of a small batch built for whoever owned the S.S. Stewart brand at that time. It's a little fancier than a Kel or a Trujo and has more of the L-2 in it. Believe it or not, the sound is only picked up by the microphone. It is not amped, even though it sounds like it. I was startled when I heard the playback. There are no added effects, EQ manipulation etc., of which I'm aware. (Neil is playing an inexpensive Chinese Recording King and makes it sound great.)
Gerry p.s. just listened to your rag and really liked it! I was convinced it was electric as well! It certainly sounds like it.
Edit: Sorry, forgot to say - Great performance, lads! I've played it a number of times. Pages: [1] Go Up
