Pre-PT Warm-Up: Mississippi Blues
« on: July 14, 2005, 10:13:57 PM »
Finally! Got a chance to sit down and get reaquainted with GarageBand. Checking out the acoustics in my new recording studio/Bedroom. [Note to self: Get less squeaky chair] Anyway, came out OK, only one real train wreck and that's under a vocal so I was able to make a save.

I'm capoed up 3 so actual key of C for any other instruments who want to join us on the bandstand. Alex (Pyro) will also be playing a guitar arrangement based on You'll Like My Lovin', Miller (cyotegulch) is working out a tasteful mando part, I'm gonna get Shelley (Desperate Stevens) to add some nice washboard (makin' ya some nice brushes from bamboo twigs) and I'd love to hear a harp and, heck, how 'bout a fiddle? Work your solos around the boogie parts, eh, and we'll put it together starting in Pre-Soak.

I'm playing my little Stella, for anyone interested, and making good use of an unwound .022" third string. It's just full of zzzzzips when I play it on a wound third.

Hope ya'll like it, but any criticism gladly recieved.
All for now.

Nice one John - you really have got that nailed and to be able to sing at the same time as playing it - well!! That is certainly something I was never able to manage.

Well done - excellent in fact. Makes me wish I was goin' to PT !!!

sounds good John.  All these great posts are making me think it's time to learn this tune.  It is actually one of the earliest CB tunes I heard, played by Stefan Grossman.  Sort of like an old glove.  That boogie part does sound tricky.

Hey, thanks much, you guys. I really enjoy this song, it really suits me vocally, and, as I said on one of the other threads, I really have kinda been there in that kind of relationship so I get into it. Sure look forward to puttin' it together with Alex and Miller and whoever else to see if we can get a good jug band sound.

Say, Wax:
Just downloaded it, will listen and play along with it...just as soon as I can find the time >:(. Made lunch, ate lunch, now moving big furniture back upstairs, then into the city for carpet pads, jeesh......

This will sound totally cool with us all playing on it. Thanks for working this out for us, John. :P

All best,
Miller
