There were a couple of threads, maybe here, but perhaps on other boards, about solo musicians or groups playing at farmer's markets, fairs, etc., being shaken down by copyright enforcers about the songs they were playing. Same goes for the people in charge of the markets, fairs, etc. They wanted a cut even though they had no evidence that the songs were copyrighted or that they were acting as agents of the copyright holders if it was the the case that the songs were copyrighted. IIRC, the poster said that in the future they only played public domain songs and carried set lists as evidence.

What a mess.
