Time for some blues esoterica! With contributions from Ry Cooder, Stefan Grossman, and the late John Renbourn, I've just revised an article that explores how the European parlor guitar tradition and, more important, two songs copyrighted by Henry Worrall in 1860 influenced the creation of guitar blues. Scans of the musical scores of "Spanish Fandango" and "Sebastopol" included. It's too long to post here, so if you're interested, here's a link:
