He was feelin' pretty good. It was raining' and he came in and set down, and he took him a big drink out of his boot (where he stored his whiskey) and picked that guitar up, and boy, I just wished you could of heard him... - Blind Arthur Blake, remembered by Bill Williams
I've been sent a copy of this CD, due for release next week, and it's a winner. Good old fashioned acoustic blues that's right up my street.
Rather than bombarding you all with my purple prose and hyperbole, I've attached an mp3 of Key To The Highway which I've reduced to around 660kb from its 2mb to make attachment quicker and easier.
Guitarist is Eric Noden; acoustic bass Beau Sample; washboard, percussion and clarinet (1 track) Rick Sherry. Billy Flynn plays electric guitar on one song and mandolin on one or two other. Recorded February last year.
Now for something completely different, here's the clarinet track - touch of the Arnett Nelsons
Arrived today, enjoying it a lot. My first impressions were as follows.
The mandolin is the icing on the cake, more needed. Eric the mysterious guitar player totally rocks. The album has an all around pleasing sound, it's a very well recorded and mixed acoustic set (with one tres subtle, almost seamless, overdub, you wouldn't know unless you were a guitar player listening to an album with one credited guitarist). Not previously mentioned there's some seriously good non-slide "resonator guitar in open tuning" stuff going on on several tracks.
Excellent all round, cheers for the heads up there Bunker.
