M. John Hurt: question about 2 CDs.
« on: September 07, 2006, 07:21:46 AM »
Hi!

Many years ago I bougth a book of Stefan Grossman about Mississippi John Hurt.
A lot of Tabs and 2 CDs inside!

Have you some informations about these recordings?
Are some private recordings that M.J.H. recorded for Grossman or are official realises?

Many thanks for the help!

Marco.

Hi Marco, and welcome to Weenie Campbell.

I believe those recordings from the Masters of Country Blues MJ Hurt book are all previously released material.

Marco,

I do own grossman's tab book "shake that thing" which came with three cds of instruction.  IF this is the book you are talking about it does have 2 songs on it that are not available elsewhere.  They are the title track "Shake that thing" and a non slide version of "Casey Jones" which I believe Stefen recored himself.  Both quite good I must say.

Thanks, Uncle Bud & Blue!

You are right, Uncle Bud: the book is that one of "Master of country blues" collection.

I LOVE M.J.H.!!!
Not just like guitar player but also like MAN.
What a kind, rich and interesting person he was!

Marco.
