I started it a while back and put it down, will finish it eventually - while I think Handy is an important figure, I don't think he's that interesting musically, though of course his music has to be considered. I think the author overestimates him in that respect - also, I was bugged that the author gave a completely incorrect definition of syncopation, which did not fill me with confidence re- other aspects of the book.
