'Nother song was "Lawyer Clark." Yeah. A lawyer in Brownsville, Huey Clark. Best lawyer they said, keep ya out of jail. He'd book John out of jail a lot of times, 'cause John get drunk every holiday and go to jail. They wouldn't make him pay nothin'. Let him out when he get sober. - Yank Rachell, from Blues Mandolin Man, by Richard Congress

Hi John Lee,
I don't have them all, but I've got a few--

I'm GON' ask my own buddy, now, how come he's HERE

Start some stuff I'M SURE GON' raise some hell

Told everybody that I WASN'T no good

Yes, you called THE OLD LAW and he brought his ball and chain

Accused me of murder I NEVER harmed a man

Used to GANG around me like the ANGELS ABOVE

All best,
Johnm

Hi
I have been trying to learn this song but I am struggling with some of the words.  Any additions or corrections would be appreciated.

That?ll Be Alright
Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie

Well look here mama see what you done done
Took all my money left me on the bum

Well that?ll be alright...

Now you were your dresses above your knee
            to who you please

Well that?ll be alright....

Gonna buy me a dog by the nose
Keep those men from jelly roll

Well that?ll be alright....

Break

Well that?ll be alright...

Embarrassed that you love me, don?t see why you can
Caught you on the corner with another man

Well that?ll be alright...

Well you talk about jelly you ought to see mine
Spread my jelly all over town

Well that?ll be alright..

I had a good woman sleeping all by myself
Now she gone got somebody else

Well that?ll be alright..

Gonna build me a house out on the street
So these women come sleep for me

Well that?ll be alright..

Me and my brother went round the bend
Had my girl and couldn?t drive her in

Well that?ll be...

Hi Myk, and welcome to Weenie. We've got this one over in the Minnie lyrics thread (as usual, Joe gets short shrift ;) ). http://weeniecampbell.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=528.msg53833#msg53833

Still some rough spots.

I need a little help with the lyrics of Pile Driver Blues, by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie.
Anyone?
The song pitch is Eb, standard tuning E position, with a killer riff by Memphis Minnie is my guessing because of the difficulties of the intricate playing that riff and the singing altogether and a bass line by Joe McCoy.

I don't usually post lyrics on request, but I remember transcribing this for the CB duets video that JohnM and I did...  It's a great song to sing and play, particularly if you're looking to build your confidence with singing and playing:

Pile Drivin' Blues - Kansas Joe McCoy

Drove so many piles, my hammer's all worn out (2x)
That's when I do my driving, they began to jump and shout

Want all you people just to understand (2x)
That's when I do my driving, drive just like a man

When I was young, driving was my crave (2x)
You drove me so hard, drove me to my grave

Get you a hammer, you can drive all the time (2x)
You have broke my hammer, my hammer's out of line

You got most of it - I re-transcribed it below with changes in CAPS. It does sound like he fumbles a bit on the 5th verse and it seems like the end of each of the couplets should have been switched (that's a TAKE, boys!). O'ER is synonymous with OVER. SOT is a rural pronunciation of SAT - Lemon uses it, too.

Totally forgot about this song...  a re-imagining of Maggie Campbell...  and it sure sounds like Carl Martin on fiddle:

Look O'ER yonder, who?s coming down the road
Walk like my baby but she walk too slow, crying
look O'ER yonder who?s coming down the road
Lord, it walk like my baby but she walk too slow

Now cook my supper let me go to bed
Been drinkin white lightnin and IT'S gone to my head
Cryin? look O'ER yonder?..(rit)?.

Well they call the law he brought is old ball and chain
ACCUSING me of murder I never harmed a man
Cryin??.(rit)

spoken: Swing it, boys!

Well one of these old morning I?m gonna jump and shout
BUS ROLL UP AND my GAL come walking out
Cryin??.(rit)?

I?m goin? to have GET me a little something and (I) don?t get mad
Gimme a little bit, babe, I ain?t never had
Cryin??.(rit)?

Now, MAMMY she told ME, my daddy SOT DOWN and he cried
Someday son you got to lay down and die
But I want you to look o'er yonder who's coming down the road
Lord, it walk like my baby, but she walk too slow

Here's the song:

Kansas Joe Mccoy - I?m Wild About My Stuff

I?m wild 'bout my stuff, don?t care what you do

Good stuff, good stuff is hard to find
killed my daddy run my mama blind
I?m wild 'bout my stuff
I?m wild 'bout my stuff
I?m wild 'bout my stuff, don?t care what you do

I think the 2nd chorus starts with:

"Went to the hen house, looked to the roof".

Hopefully others can help you with the rest.

Cheers

Some suggestions:

All my chicken is dressed mighty fine
Can't get my chicken take dressin' for mine

Went to the hen house I looked on the roof
Lookin' for my stuff but it wasn't no use

Take a boa constrictor and a lemon stick
Wouldn?t mind goin? but my mama?s sick

You can toot your whistle you can ring your bell
Know you been wallowin' by the way you smell

Now go on girls don't flirt after me,
Got good stuff and it?s all I need

Chris

I merged I'm Wild About My Stuff into the existing Kansas Joe McCoy lyrics thread.
