Corpus blues

Howdy:

Here's my version of Little Hat Jones' "Corpus Blues", recorded on a Larrivee 1980's L-05 cutaway (spruce top, mahogany back and sides). The guitar sound is a mix of the miked guitar and the pickup.

This tune is a must learn, because LHJ recorded 5 additional tunes with the same accompaniment.

E position, Standard tuning.

I don't play as nasty as LHJ, and again to quickly.

Some rough spots still, but I'm really trying to work this one up. Again, I think it would sound better sung an octave lower.

Thanks for listening, and any criticism appreciated.

Alex

Sounds good Alex, you're pushing your range as you say but I'm sure it'll pay off and get easier. I enjoyed it, a lot of your personality comes through. You could even play up the humorous lines a little bit more to get some more definition going as the song progresses.

Nice performance!! Must take your advice and have a go at it.

But please, please, don't use that pick-up on recordings it doesn't sound good at all.

Alex...

Great job....I think your voice and the guitar part meld nicely and the guitar is smooth and fluid...well played.  I would agree with blueshome that this combination of PU and mic doesn't really do that Larrivee justice....I look orward to hearing some more!

Cheers,

Blue

Great performance, Alex.

Have to agree with Blueshome and Blue about the pick-up though. I have a "thing" about recordings with acoustic guitars plugged in.  To me "DI" means "dead ignorant".

Any chance we can have this superb offering again with just the sounds of your excellent Larriv?e?
