« on: October 18, 2010, 01:46:25 PM »
Hope this may be of interest to some of you. No doubt you will have heard the well known blues song Casey Jones. The engineer which was on board train 382 - Walter Valley district Mississippi, when it collided with a freight train no 83 killing Casey Jones . There is a website devoted to this occurrence and it contains the report of the wreck and also some photos.

It seems that Casey Jones had been suspended previously for similar mishaps!

Hadn't heard that version, Thanks!  Do you know if it pre-dates Furry's version?

Furry first recorded Kassie Jones in 1928.  Jesse James recorded Southern Casey Jones in 1936.
