Just a more or less straight ahead version of Pink Anderson's great recording. Excavated from a defunct piece of recording software on my i-phone.

That's great, Mr O'Muck. I've played it a few of times.
Do you think this rhythm qualifies as a cakewalk? It kind of reminds me of Cakewalk into Town a bit.

Another question - with Pink Anderson coming from South Carolina does anyone think he might have been singing Creasy Greens?

I didn't know such a creature existed!

But now that I do I will have to listen more carefully and see what these subway battered ears reveal. Thanks for the tip. As for a cakewalk, could be, but I don't know enough about the cakewalk form to say for sure. Perhaps JohnM knows....

Of course the record I got the song from, the stupendous
"Gospel, Blues and Street Songs"
Riverside RLP 148
Lists it as Greasy Greens. I may change it to Creasy though just to satisfy my taste for the obscure and exotic.
Actually you've got me wondering now whether this might have been a paid advertisement for a local grower of Creasy Greens. Hmmmm.
