I think Wax has a point here.  Tell 'em it's acoustic folk music and we should fare better.

Good thinking, will do.  I have just heard back from the other hotel and am seeking some clarification as to rates! Watch this space etc.

I have been distracted as having had some work started to repair mega water damage which has been drying out months, today a frigging pipe got cut which nicely flooded the floor again...... >:(

After a lot of effort I have found this place, I have no idea what it is like so if anybody knows it or lives near I would really appreciate some feedback.

http://www.oxfordhotelsandinns.com/OurHotels/SouthLawn

The rates are as in their email to me, I don't think it's any more than last years hotel and in fact for a double with two sharing it works at ?60 per person including Dinner which can't be bad - or can it! An opporunity to give the little lady an insight into the genteel workings of country blues...

Quote
We can offer you twin/double rooms to include Full English Breakfast, Table d?hote Dinner and VAT at ?120.00 per room per day subject - that is for two people.

With regard to bed and breakfast rates this will be ?85.00 per room per day for two people sharing ? our normal tariff is ?100.00 per day.

For single occupancy the rate for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast will be ?78.00 or for Bed and Breakfast the rate will be ?72.50 per person per day ? normal rate is ?85.00.

If you are only having a Bed and Breakfast rate there will be a charge of ?95.00 per day for use of the Function Room but if you have Dinner, Bed and Breakfast the rate for the Function Room will be complimentary.

Now, I really need some instant feedback to let them know if we want to go ahead, so can you please give it some urgent thought over the weekend and let me know what you think.

Single room rates are a bit steep- but if it fits the bill its fine for me.

I guess we need a party-line on whether we pay for dinner and get the free room or vice versa.

NS, good point.

Right, let's decree that we will all book to include meals so that for a single it means the meal is only six quid  :-X what can it be like!

Obviously I couldn't promise the hotel exact numbers but I got the impression they were hoping for half a dozen rooms out of it, so anybody out there who thinks they will be booking can they register their interest.

Thanks..

Hotel looks OK and similar rates to last year...I'll be signing up as usual. Any chance of another flying visit from our Isle of Wight friends...??

IoW, it would be very nice but I'm not sure. You will have to bager Marchcat (I'm not sure how you bager a Marshcat, are you  :-X ) to see if he can talk 'em into it.

Anyway from the respose to my messages looks like we will let a few rooms so I will confirm with the hotel next week, then all I ask is for "you" to book in asap and I can go hibernate for the winter with the job done!

Consider me badgered.

Re the Isle of Wight contingent, we'll need some time to dig the tunnel and organise the escape boat, but I spoke to JC and Angelina last week and they're optimistic.

Also hoping to cajole the respective other halves of Delta Echoes and National Steel to attend.
