Blind Willie McTell Box Set
« on: May 11, 2010, 07:29:13 AM »
Hello everybody,
I'm new in this Forum. I hope everybody understands my english, because I'm from Germany. I'm twenty years old, but I sure love the "old stuff".
Does anyone know what happened to the Larry Cohn Willie McTell Box? The last things I heard was that he and his companion had a big dispute about business matters...
Is it going to be released one day?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to WeenieCampbell, Mr Jelly Roll. There was indeed a big dispute, leading to legal entanglements I believe. Cohn did have a recent update (in April) on the project for those who had "subscribed" (i.e. pre-ordered), but I don't know what it was as I did not pre-order. Perhaps someone here did and can enlighten us.

Welcome to weenie campbell, I can remember looking for this set myself about a year ago. I didn't pre order either but this set has the potential being as good as the revenant patton set although I read somewhere that there may be songs missing from the Ed Rhodes session. This is the set up of the box set:

FOUR AUDIO CDs
- Library of Congress recordings, Atlanta 1940
- The Complete Ed Rhodes sessions, Atlanta 1956
- "25" Blind Willie's best/most interesting recordings
- "Friends" Those he played and traveled with

BONUS CD
Ed Rhodes tells the story of Blind Willie and the recording of Mctell's last session

DVD-DOCUMENTARY
"Blind Willie's Blues"

VINYL 78RPM RECORD
Copy of a very old rare recording of Ruth Willis accompanied by Mctell.
?Painful Blues? and ?Experience Blues?
