Provenance of Photo on the Cover of MS Sheiks 4cd Box Set
« on: February 03, 2017, 04:20:31 PM »
The attached picture is on the cover of a 4cd set w/ notes by Neil Slaven (JSP JSPCD 77151).  Do anyone know where the photo on the right came from (ie, it's provenance)?  It looks like a photo of Bo Carter with his steel-bodied National guitar.  I'm not sure what that long white thing is on the front either.

Thank you,

This has been discussed before but with no conclusive answer.

There does not seem to be any discussion of the white thing on the guitar, but the question of its provenance seems to have been left open-ended with some folks planning to inquire outside of the forum.  I have also inquired outside the forum with no answers thusfar, but everyone believes it to be Bo.  I will keep digging and return with an answer on provenance......or not....

Maybe the focus for right now needs to be on the mysterious white thing.

The white thing looks like a piece of paper to me. Perhaps a check or a folded up contract?

Yeah, I think it's just a piece of paper.

Looks like a sunny day. Maybe that cool National was reflecting right into the camera where the paper is.

I like beljum's idea re killing reflections from the sun into the lens. My thought was maybe Bo had a crazy trick way of damping the strings or creating a buzzing effect. I'm assuming it is tucked under the string set.

I can make out "ITTA"  it looks like in pencil, capital letters.
Perhaps it says ITTA BENA.

-- I also have an unknown photo from Bolivar County that resembles him.

Nothing hotter than an all metal National on a sunny day.
