Dave Van Ronk died 20 years ago today. I was fortunate to have taken lessons with him in the mid 80s. A very talented and interesting man. If you haven’t read his autobiography “The Mayor of MacDougal Street” (written with and completed by Elijah Wald), I highly recommend it.

It's one of the most entertaining music-related books I've ever read.   Dave was a heck of a storyteller.  The book has a great story about Dylan and "House of the Rising Sun."  And the one about Brownie McGhee and "Sportin' Life Blues" makes me smile every time I think of it.  How lucky you are to have known him!
