Brownie McGhee ... says that after the gig all the important folk people came over and told him that he had to move to New York because "they didn't have any blues singers up there; that Josh White was the only one, and he'd gone white." McGhee laughingly adds that when he got to New York and met Josh, "when i saw how much money he was making, I said, 'Hey, show me how to go white too!''" - from Society Blues, Elijah Wale

Rich Del Grosso Mandolin Workshop
« on: February 01, 2012, 04:44:59 PM »
For those of you looking forward to having Rich Del Grosso back at Centrum this year, I wanted to let you know that there is a chance for you to get a double dose of Blues Mando this summer in the Pacific Northwest. The River of the West Mandolin camp from June 7 to 10 has Rich as one of their featured mando instructors. And as an added bonus, Mary Flower will also be doing some guitar workshops.

I've gone to this camp before and it's an amazing experience with world-class mando instructors. It's limited to 45 participants and is located in the Columbia River Gorge just 20 miles from Portland.

All the details are at www.mandoberlin.com.
