Chicago's First Battle of the Jug Bands
« on: October 26, 2008, 09:13:46 AM »
Hi folks,

Inspired by the awesome annual event in Minneapolis, I'm trying to start a Battle of the Jug Bands tradition here in Chicago. Our first running will be next month: Saturday, Nov. 8 at a bar called Morseland at 1218 W. Morse Ave. The lineup includes:

Strictly Jug Nuts (Chicago)
The Geezers (Minneapolis)
Blue Ribbon Jug Band (Chicago)
Bare Hand Jug Band (Chicago)
Fat Chance Jug Band (Minneapolis)
Hump Night Thumpers (Chicago)
Escape the Floodwater Jug Band (Iowa City)

The winner will be decided by an audience vote and, as a tribute to our local culinary heritage, will receive an antique sausage press as a traveling trophy.

We'll have a dinnertime show by one of Chicago's best roots bands, Devil In a Woodpile, at 7:00 ... the battle at 9:00 ... and an open jam around midnight. The lineup is full, but if you're in the area, please come enjoy the event and then stick around for the jam!

Cheers,
-Arlo
