George wanted to take Lonzie to record with Albert Macon and Robert Thomas, and the daughter was hesitant to let Lonzie get in a car with George, or with anybody, but George reassured her. So George helped him in the car, and put the car in reverse, and drove directly into a nearby ditch. Lonzie turned and said, "Man, George, you may as well let me drive!" - Fred Fussell describes George Mitchell chauffeuring the blind Lonzie Thomas to a recording session, from notes to The George Mitchell Collection

Hi all,
Ralph Stanley wrote some really great banjo tunes, and I've always like this one, "Hard Times".
All best,
Johnm

I woke up this morniní, my mind was runniní two different ways
I woke up this morniní, my mind was runniní two different ways
I had one mind to leave this town, and one mind to stay

I wonder do my baby, ever think of me
Well, I wonder do my baby, ever think of me
She keeps me worried and bothered, worried all the time

It have been days, I didnít have no place to go
It have been days, I didnít have no place to go
When I went back to my baby, she said ďget up where you goiní goĒ

GUITAR/PIANO SOLO

I hate to see the evening sun go down, behind the cherry tree
Said, I hate to see the evening sun go down, behind the cherry tree
When baby walked away and left me, you know that is killing me

It was early this morniní, my tears come falliní down
It was early this morniní, my tears come falliní down
She worried me, worried and bothered, Iíve got to leave this town

Dave - thanks, I'll really glad to get the feedback.

Now, the guitar on your avatar looks like a lap Gibson to me :P

rt
Richard,
The avatar is from a photo I took in Cuba of a poster. Too small to read probably, on the bottom it says: Que Levante la Mano la guitarra. Google says that literally means "raise your hand the guitar".
I donít play lap style.

James Cole with Tommie Bradley is another good one. And I forget if anyone has mentioned Peg Leg Howell & Eddie Anthony?  And then there's Butch Cage with Willie B. Thomas (on Arhoolie-Smithsonian) and a wonderful fairly new one on Field Recorders Collective, Teodar Jackson Ė African-American Fiddling from Texas Ė FRC728.  It's great! Highly recommended.  https://fieldrecorder.org/product/teodar-jackson-african-american-fiddling-from-texas-frc728/
And thanks for your kind words, Lindy.

I'll second what Harry said re: PayPal. I use my primary credit card as the source of payment for PayPal instead of linking PayPal to my bank account, however.

Been using Paypal for years. Very reliable and easy. Never had any problems.
