Some tracks from the Larry Johnson Presenting The Country Blues album, if I'm not mistaken. Does anyone know if these tracks can be found on CD?

Not available on CD. Take a look at Stefan's discography http://www.wirz.de/music/johnsfrm.htm and you'll see that Bobby Robinson recorded Larry twice, once in 1964 (all unissued) and then again in 1969 some of which Mike Vernon negotiated Robinson for release on Blue Horizon. I think this topic may have been discussed elsewhere.

Not on CD, but there is a MP3 recording of the vinyl LP available on the web. Search for "Larry Johnson: Presenting The Country Blues" and the FileTram site should be on the list of results.

Hi all,
Leonard Rutherford's fiddling on this might be my absolute favorite Old-Time fiddling--it's sure in the running, anyway.  Here goes:

To my knowledge (and great surprise) these vids featuring Son House have not appeared in this thread. Let me know if I'm wrong about that. They're great, made in Seattle in 1969. He doesn't look real comfortable in this setting, but once he starts playing, he doesn't hold back.

Many of you have already seen these vids, which were made by the Seattle Folklore Society (different from the blues performance films made by the University of Washington Ethnomusicology Department). But for those of you who haven't, go to the YouTube page that contains these two vids and you'll find links to others featuring Elizabeth Cotton, Roscoe Holcomb, Mance Lipscomb, Bukka White, Fred McDowell, Buell Kazee, and others. Enjoy!

Lindy- thanks for the tip on the Seattle Folklore Society films on Youtube...especially enjoyed the two Mike Russo segments...I'd never heard of him before but, WOW!  Guess he made a record for Arhoolie of guitar and piano...thanks again.

Johnm's post on the 16-bar blues thread made me look up this Mance Lipscomb tune:

I like how Mance mixes in parts from other songs - he does it really well
