More Xmas gift ideas: book and CD
« on: December 14, 2008, 06:35:58 PM »
Hey Folks -- Another nice gift idea, ships easily, just $20 plus shipping: Blues Traveling: the Holy Sites of Delta Blues, updated third edition. Drop me an email if you want a personalized copy, or look for at at your local bookstore (I've heard that amazon is out of them or slow in shipping them).
I'm a day late and a dollar short on getting my new CD, Fetch It!, out in time for the Christmas shopping season. But it will be out right around Christmas, so if you (or your gift recipient) can wait until sometime between the holidays, I'll be glad to send you one of those as soon as it's ready. The album title is from Ma Rainey's "Hear Me Talking to You," which opens the CD. Why don't I give you the whole song list:
  • Hear Me Talking to You (Ma Rainey)
  • Who Broke the Latch? (Bo Carter)
  • Love with a Feeling (Tampa Red)
  • One Dime (Blind Lemon Jefferson)
  • Shake Your Hips (Slim Harpo)
  • Vicksburg Blues (Little Brother Montgomery)
  • Polly Wolly Doodle (trad.)
  • Arrangement for Me (Bo Carter)
  • Little Ole Wine Drinker Me (Jennings/Mills)
  • Shortnin? Bread (trad.)
  • Who?s Been Here? (Bo Carter)
  • Last Kind Words (Geechie Wiley)
  • Been Mistreated (Georgia Tom)

OK, when I figure out how to do it, I'll also post the cool CD cover! Cheers and may Santa Claus slide down the chimney to you, SC

Hey Chezz, in case you missed it, Blues Traveling is on the Weenie front page as one of our suggested gift ideas. Let me know if you'd like me to change the link. It's currently linking to Amazon, which lists it as in stock.

Uncle Bud -- Oops, I had missed it in the gift list, thanks. As for Amazon -- I got an order from someone who said he had tried to order it from Amazon but was told it would take several weeks. I don't know if Amazon has sped up the process yet. But if anyone's in a hurry to get it -- or just wants a signed copy and the pleasure of dealing directly with the author instead of an online retailer -- just drop me a line or go to my website. Thanks. Cheers, SC
