"Lost Sounds" compilation wins Grammy
« on: February 14, 2007, 10:55:31 PM »
Ike Turner just won the "Traditional Blues Album" Grammy for his "Risin' With the Blues," which sounds great, at least in online samples I found, but not what we would call "traditional." But the winner in the "Historical Album" category sounds very interesting and educational: "Lost Sounds: Blacks and the Birth of the Recording Industry 1891-1922." I've asked my public library to spring for it!

I haven't heard the album, but did hear some samples on this web site.

Tim Brooks' book Lost Sounds is excellent.
