Koa Parlor guitar
« on: December 13, 2007, 10:26:00 AM »
Hi,
I'm new around here, and kinda new to little ladder braced guitars. I am wondering if anyone has some info on my newest acquisition... an all Koa OS Sovereign parlor. I think it's from the 20's from the limited research I was able to do, but any info is very welcome.
Much thanks in advance - jv

..sweet!  ..I owned one just like it at one time .. check out www.stellaguitars.com, you can order the Stella book written by Neil Harpe.  Your guitar, in the Stella version, is on pg 30 .. Neil reads these boards, so he may chime in on this one..

Briefly, you guitar was made by the Oscar Schmidt company in Jersy City NJ, and Sovereign was their fancy brand, and I think your 20's assessment is accurate.

Is it set up for lap or standard playing?

..well I bought mine at a guitar show a few years back for $300, I think, then used it in trade w/ a few other guitars for something else, so I never actually sold mine .. but, if I still had it, and in that condition, I'd ask for a price north of $1K for sure..
