Does anyone out there in Weenie Campbell Land have the Document CD "Texas Piano Vol.1", it has Bernice Edwards, George Q. Thomas, Hersal Thomas, and Hociel Thomas???

Arthur Petties, Freddie Spruell, Romeo Nelson, Doug Suggs -- these are only a few of the blues singers known on record and in discographies to blues enthusiasts, whose rediscovery has not been followed by recording sessions, for they have forgotten all they knew, and hear with disbelief the records they made as young men. - "The Future of the Blues", Blues Off the Record, Paul Oliver

I don't have the album but I sure like to have it as well. I played the "The Fives" on the back porch a week ago. A piece composed by The Thomas brothers.
Fortunately we have this excellent radio program. Document Records Presents Texas Blues Piano http://gillian59513.podomatic.com/entry/2013-11-12T08_47_55-08_00 Haven't listened to it for ages. David Evans contributed a really interesting/useful/insightful six page booklet.
There's a slight typo in Suzy's list which should read George W. Thomas. Lignite
No. I have Texas Piano Blues (1929-1948) on Story of Blues with Nick Nichols, Perry Dixon, Big Boy Knox, Joe Pullum and Alex Moore.

Harry , the podcast is great, but it only presents a few of the recordings. I'm looking for the whole CD - in particular the Hociel Thomas tracks -- still hoping someone here on Weenie Campbell has it and will speak up!
Have you tried youtube, Suzy? I just looked there, and they have a bunch of Hociel Thomas tracks available.
All best, Johnm Suzy, all the Hociel Thomas tracks from the Document Texas Piano Vol.1 can be found right here. (amazing site btw, it's like Spotify but for free)

Thanks all. I finally did remember to try Youtube and, yes, it's all there. Thanks Harry for letting me know where to post, I wasn't quite sure but now I'll know, for next time. Or, maybe I'll find everything I want on Youtube and will never need to post these kinds of requests again!!
Hey Suzy,
Try contacting Alex at Document Records. I have found them to be very helpful when after a discontinued title. Also, if you haven't already, use the search page. Enter "Hociel Thomas" in the search box, it will bring up everything on which he's featured. You might find all his tracks on other cds. I've done that with a few artists whose complete output is out of print. Adam. oddenda

To the best of my knowledge, Hociel Thomas was a lady, related to pianists Hersal and George Thomas, as well as Sippie Wallace (Beulah Thomas). pbl Suzy T
Yes, that's correct, she was the niece of Sippie Wallace and Hersal Thomas who were brother and sister. I can't remember how George is related to them - another brother?
