I'm Satisfied With My Gal-by Whom?
« on: November 08, 2006, 12:04:26 PM »
Ladies, Gentlemen and Unkie Bud:

I've been asked by a friend if anyone knows the history of this song.

""I'm Satisfied With My Gal".  I've coming up with no info on it (I think it's Public Domain) through ASCAP or BMI.  The Jim Kweskin Jug Band recorded it on one of their earliest, probably their debut, Vanguard LP without a writer's credit.  I'm fairly certain it's a 20s-30s jazz or jug band tune."

Hope Weenies can help.

..My baby made me sore,
Alex

Sharkey is a performer/composer different that the one listed for Jim Kweskin  -- allmusic lists the author as: DeRose, P./Trent, J.

I haven't got time to check this out but am fairly sure that many moons ago I read that the song was better known as "Yes She Do, No She Don't" popularised by the California Ramblers (in the 1920s?)

Over to you.

..and now that I can consult my Jazz Records 1897-1942 Bonano "Yes She Do, No She Don't" was recorded by him at his first session on March 21, 1936 in New Orleans.
