I woke up this mornin’ clock was striking four Honey I woke up this mornin’ the clock was striking four And my baby told me pack your things and go
I'm gon’ pack my suitcase and move back to the woods I'm gon’ pack my suitcase and move back to the woods It's nobody here that means me any good
Just sure as the good Lord sits in his heaven above Now just sure as the good Lord sits in his heaven above Now your life ain't all pleasure ‘less you with that one you love
I'm going to the river sit flat on the ground I'm going to the river sit flat on the ground Now if my heart strikes sorrow the tears come rollin’ down
Now she's little and she's low right down on the ground Now she's little and she's low right down on the ground Now this the reason I love her she ain't no hand me down
Mmm ain't gon’ sing no more Mmm ain't gon’ sing no more Lord my train is waiting baby and I got to go

Hi Harry, Thanks for the transcription. I merged your new thread with a pre-existing thread that had a Charlie Spand transcription in it. I'm really glad you did another of his--I think he's really under-rated, both as a player and singer, and that Yazoo re-issue of his songs is a great CD. Nice to get more piano players featured! All best, Johnm
Hi Harry, I think that definitely is Josh White on guitar, playing in A position in standard tuning, all those triplets in the treble with that "poppy" touch. And I think in 4.1 and 4.2 it is:
You wonder why I treat you so You should have sense enough to know My good gal good gal I don’t love you no more Now good gal good gal I don’t love you no more
You may say that I'm changing fast But good things in life don't never last Good gal good gal I don’t love you no more It’s good gal good gal I don’t love you no more
You used to treat me like a dog But now I learned to hop from broad to broad Now it’s good gal I don’t love you no more It’s good gal good gal I don’t love you no more
Onced I couldn't stand to see you cry But it'd be all the same mama if you die Now good gal good gal I don’t love you no more Good gal good gal I don’t love you no more
I might as well to tell you the facts I got a new gal she's tight like that Good gal I don’t love you no more It’s good gal good gal I don’t love you no more

I let you burn my biscuits, and fill my coffee full of sand I let you burn my biscuits, and fill my coffee full of sand And, now you take my money, and give it to another man
I let you run around, and stay up all night to dance I let you run around, and stay up all night to dance Now, you’re tryin’ to act like, mama, you wanna wear the pants
You went down to Memphis, found a butter-and-egg man there You went down to Memphis, found a butter-and-egg man there And, now you’re tryin’ to give, your regular man the air
PIANO/GUITAR SOLO 2x
I used to sleep on clean sheets, but I don’t do that no more I used to sleep on clean sheets, but I don’t do that no more Lord, I can’t go in your bedroom, you make me sleep on the floor
You treat me lowdown and dirty, baby, that is the fact Lord, you treat me lowdown and dirty, baby, that is the fact And, now you’re tryin’ to quit me, and I ain’t gonna stand for that
Thanks for posting that song, Harry. I sure like Charlie Spand's singing, and Josh White demonstrates his comfort and wealth of ideas playing in Vestapol. All best, Johnm
