Paul Geremia Lyrics
« on: May 01, 2020, 04:31:52 PM »
I'm gonna need help with this one and I don't just mean the question marks.

Paul Geremia - My Kinda Place

Recorded 1986

Paul Geremia - Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica
Piano - Del Long

INTRO

My kinda place is a back street bar, with a low-down piano and a good guitar, some
Folks like me that ain’t got, nothin' to lose, ‘cept a little bit of time, and a whole lot of blues
REFRAIN: Uh huh, you can’t scandalize my name

It might be in Chicago or, old Santa Fe, might be in Saint Louis, or Philadelphia
Might be in Baltimore, or Providence, go for, lookin’ for answers, nothin’ makes any sense
REFRAIN: Uh huh, you can’t scandalize my name

Don’t bring too much money or your, good advice, they like it like it is, there're in a paradise
Bound to find someone'll listen to your woes, if you're down at the heels they'll put you, up on your toes
REFRAIN: Uh huh, you can’t scandalize my name (Spoken: Take it, Del!)

PIANO SOLO

Well, it might bring you up and it might bring you down, it’s just another stop on life’s merry-go-round
You might fall off, and you might get hurt you can, try another pony when you're, shed of the dirt
REFRAIN: Uh huh, you can’t scandalize my name (Spoken: I'll take it now.)

HARMONICA SOLO

It’s a home for the homesick, the saints and the sinners, it’s a temporary shelter for the, losers and the winners, and
It don’t matter which, one or the other when you, hear, "Last call.", whiskey is your lover
REFRAIN: Uh huh, you can’t scandalize my name

GUITAR/HARMONICA SOLO

So don’t you criticize them folks that might gather at, my kinda place ‘cause nothing looks sadder than a
Self-righteous soul, who falls off his high horse, winds up stupefied at the, watering trough
REFRAIN: Uh huh, you can’t scandalize my name

Hi Everyone,

I would need some help with the lyrics of Paul Geremia's version of She can move it just right.
That I could hear so far is (it's really the 2nd line what's missing):

I met a little girl down in Dixieland
???
She can move it just right she can move it just right
It will make you crazy she moves it just right

She’s a very nice girl don’t talk too much
(When she) comes to lovin’ she’s got a wonderful touch
She moves...

How's that honey I don't know she do it man but she's just got that thing she just moves
she just moves me she just movet it just right

Now you won't see her come by my place
I go down there most every day
She moves...

She’s a very nice girl don’t talk too much
(When she) comes to lovin’ she’s got a wonderful touch
She moves...

Thanks in advance

Must have got a lesson from a saw machine man

I haven't listened to this recently, but I think it more likely that he is singing
must have got a lesson from a sewing machine man.

The sexual connotation fits much more nicely IMHO.

I agree, sewing machine in "She Moves"

And going back to "My Kinda Place," a couple suggestions:

3.1 they like it is, THEY'RE in a paradise – I think is what's intended
3.2 ...someone'LL listen to your woes, if YOU'RE down at the heels THEY'LL PUT YOU on your toes

4.2 ...when YOU'RE shed OF the dirt

Thanks, Chris.

John already corrected the errors that I had in Weeniepedia.
I copy pasted it and added your, "someone'LL" and "THEY'RE in a paradise".

Listening back to this tune it really has some outstanding lyrics (and musicianship of course).

Hi Everyone,

I would need some help with the lyrics of Paul Geremia's Slidell Blues.
What I could hear so far is as follows, Italic indicates text that I am not sure, Red indicates missing texts:

It’s raining mama but sun is shining bright it’s shining bright
Ah sun is shining bright if I keep on walking I’ll be in old New Orleans town tonight

I missed the truck driver wants you let me ride on the blind
want to let me ride the blind I want to let me ride on the blind
They get me down to the waters, get me Slidell not be just fine

And it’s raining mama but sun is shining bright it’s shining bright
Ah shining through the rain I’m gonna get on down New Orleans boy we’re gonna go insane

Spoken words

Slidell is in a low land there’s waterline all around water all around
Ah waterline all around catfish and ? chasing me babe chase me to another town

And it’s raining mama the sun is shining bright it’s shining bright
Ah sun is shining bright if I keep on walking I’ll be in old New Orleans town tonight

A big storm blowing ‘cross the Gulf of Mexico big storm blowing ‘cross
Big storm blowing big cloud rolling coming up that highway takes me where I’m going

And it’s raining mama but sun is shining bright it’s shining bright
Ah shining through the rain I’m gonna get on down New Orleans boy gonna go insane

It’s raining mama but the sun is shining bright it’s shining bright
Ah sun is shining bright if I keep on walking I’ll be in old New Orleans town tonight

Below is the link to the song:

Thank you so much!

Hi cpazmandi,
I think I can help you with a couple of places.
  In verse 2:
Hey Mr. truckdriver, won't you let me ride on the blinds, won't you let me ride the blinds?
I want you to let me ride on the blinds
You get me down to New Orleans, we'll get to Slidell and I'll be just fine

Spoken:
Gonna go down New Orleans, catch Sweet Emma's New Orleans Jazz Band down there, with Big Jim Robinson on the slide trombone. Little of old Babe Stovall

Well, Slidell is in a lowland, there's water lyin' all around, water all around
   Ah, water lyin' all around
Catfish and minnows are chasin' me, baby, chasin' me to another town

Well there's a big storm blowin', 'cross the Gulf of Mexico, big storm blowin' 'cross there
Big storm blowin', big clouds a-rollin'
Comin' up that highway, takes me where I'm goin'

All best,
Johnm
