I recently discovered, via eMusic, 3 records on the Albatros label. Field recordings from the 70?s by Gianni Marcucci.

Police in Mississippi by Eugene Powell
Mississippi Delta and Tennessee Blues: VA including Charley Sangster, Lum Guffin,etc.
I Got the Blues This Morning: similar line up.

I avoided Albatros first time round due to poor reviews in B&R. I think the quality of the playing and singing is excellent in most cases and would urge folk to give these a listen if they haven?t already. I think they complement the George Mitchell recordings of the same period.

For a variety of reasons Gianni Marcucci was not happy with the Albatros releases. He has since issued this material, and more, across 15 CD's titled Blues At Home.
I devoted two shows to these recordings a few years back. I interviewed him via email and the show notes give a fair bit of background.
