51 Highway Blues

Dylan was inspired to offer his interpretation of "New Highway 51" by Big Joe Williams on his debut lp in 1962. I've heard Dylan's version alternately called, "Highway 51" or "Highway 51 Blues". This is my take on that song. I was inspired to work this up using a bottleneck approach via hearing my friend Robert OneMan Johnson offer it in that fashion. Unlike Dylan's style of harp, OneMan uses a cross harp method of playing rack mounted harmonica. The more complete version that I enjoy presenting of this song includes extended spoken word sections in the beginning and in the middle. This version, even at just over nine minutes long, is shortened due to my leaving those parts out during this presentation.
