Pretty sure Frankie had it right a few years ago with:
It's the jazz violin of a Mississippi coon
Listen to the way Walter pronounces violin as vio-leen; he just changes the stress a bit in this line. Chris
I agree, frankie has it right. Walter is cramming the syllables of violin into a small space, pretty much dropping the 'o' and it comes out more like "vi'lin", and later "vi'leen". Pretty clear to me.

Hi crustypicker, If you format your lyrics beginning each line with a capital letter, typing each line that is sung separately rather than doing 2X at the end of line, and having breaks between verses, they will be easier to read, will more accurately reflect the way they were sung, and will be easier to transfer to Weeniepedia. You've been asking for a lot of help--how about some help back? Re the D7 or D at the beginning of the song, trust your ears, and keep listening until you can tell for sure what is being played. Believe me, you don't need help to figure that out. All best, Johnm
Hi folks, Trying to decipher another Miss. Sheiks tune -- any help appreciated, esp. with the last verse!
I don?t want you no more sweet baby, shake hands and tell your daddy goodbye I don?t want you no more sweet baby, didn?t love me nohow Last night, night before, I saw another man knocking on your door I don?t want you no more sweet baby, shake hands and tell your daddy goodbye
I don?t want you no more sweet baby, shake hands and tell your daddy goodbye I don?t want you no more sweet baby, you didn?t love me nohow I worked all the winter, winter was tough (weather was tough?) With another man just a-strutting your stuff I don?t want you no more sweet baby, shake hands and tell your daddy goodbye
I don?t want you no more sweet baby, shake hands and tell your daddy goodbye I?m leaving this town tomorrow, no use to sorrow (sob?) and cry I was good when you was sick, and good when you was well ?No use to pray when you get in hell I don?t want you no more sweet baby, shake hands and tell your daddy goodbye
I don?t want you no more sweet baby, shake hands and tell your daddy goodbye I ? I ain't got you Still you pass me by I worked all the winter, In the chilly wind You giving your loving to the other men I don?t want you no more sweet baby, shake hands and tell your daddy goodbye

Trying to decipher the last verse, maybe the collective Weenie ear can help! Here's what I have. In searching the web for these lyrics I was astonished to find on Youtube a rendition by a trio consisting of Hugh Laurie, Tom Jones, and Irma Thomas. Actually it is not as bad as I expected! Not a Sheiks groove at all (and they really lose their rhythm towards the end) , but at least there is a fiddler. Tom Jones is a pretty good singer, Irma Thomas is of course completely wasted on this but....Irma Thomas as your backup singer, just imagine! Here's a link in case you want to check it out.
Okay now back to the business at hand, can anyone figure out the last verse??
Baby Please Make A Change
I beg you baby, both day and night Please don?t scold me, just treat me right CHORUS: Baby please make a change, baby please make a change Baby please make a change, I think it will do you good.
There?s a change in the ocean, and the deep blue sea Be kind to your baby, there?ll be a change in me
I have forgiven, all day and all night I?m going I?m going, can?t you change my mind
BREAK
I tell you something, think it will do you good You better get your man, out of this neighborhood
Darling I love you, and I ain?t mad If I tell you again, it will keep you sad
I?m going away but I?ll, be back again ?

Nice! Somehow that last track of vol.3 didn't import onto my hard drive so this is a lovely surprise. A new Sheiks song I agree with John on the next to last verse, applaud him on the 'bear this in mind' and suggest 6.2 'forever on your WAY'N ... baby please' for the last verse.
also verse 3 sounds like I'LL HAVE FUNNY FEELINGS, all day'n all night I'm going I'm going, IF you change my LIFE
(though the word life drops away it sounds like it begins with L rather than M)
