Many of you will find this very interesting. It focuses a great deal on Dave Van Ronk and the New Lost City Ramblers. He talks about Rev. Davis and Sam Charters as well. It is the scene that gave birth to our scene, whatever that is. ;)

Thx for this, definitely worth a gander. Elijah is informative (and smirky) as always.

He mentions the Gary Davis documentary having some great footage of RGD at Newport. Anyone know when this will be.more widely available? Seen it?

Thanks for posting this, Phil. Very interesting, informative and enjoyable.

I followed up on a couple of things that Elijah mentioned. The book of Izzy Young's writings is available:

Perry Lederman's CD is available at Joan's website (there's also a sample track):

And it looks like the Rev. Gary Davis film had its first screening in Boston. There's also a Facebook page:

Thanks for posting.  Very interesting times.  Old romantic that I am,   I took myself down to Washington Square when visiting New York recently.

I took myself down to Washington Square when visiting New York recently.

So did I. Never realized it was so small.
