Topic: Gibson B-series good for blues?

Have an opportunity to buy a Gibson B-25 for $75. Virtually unplayed, thinking it's an early 60's model, should I go for it?

For $75 - of course you should buy it - or is that a typo?.

However, I reckon any guitar is good for the blues, IMHO, its mostly down to how you play it, not so much what you play.

Narrow neck on those guys. But that never seemed to worry Furry Lewis, and for $75 how can you lose.

Is this a joke?  Is it virtually not played because it is in pieces?!  Why wouldn't you buy it for $75?!  If you didn't dig its sound as far as blues goes, you could just sell it for a profit, and then buy a guitar with a sound that you did like.

The narrow neck has put me off several cheap B-25s after playing them. They turn up often around here. Not a ton of fingerpicking fun to play IMO. Also Gibson went into decline in the mid Sixties with their sale to Norlin. So $75 might be a total bargain, or more likely a total wall hanger. 75$ is cheap though, for a B-25

It does need a new bridge, but aside from that, it is ok. I believe I will take it, as I work better with a narrow neck.

Got it today. Ordered the bridge, will be resetting the neck. Amazing piece of work!

Best of luck with the new acquisition. Some of the older guitars were overbuilt and benefit from having the braces lightened up a bit, but use your own discretion once you get the new bridge on and the neck reset. As the old saying goes, it's easier to take wood off than it is to put it back on.

Look forward to photos of the refurbished item. As has already been said here, it sounds like a bargain.
