Some of These Days
« on: April 29, 2008, 09:28:40 PM »
Another Charley Patton tune I've dumbed down to my level.  Paul Rishell was as big an influence as anyone for me here.
I'm tryin' it in Vastapol @ C again, since my voice (and lungs) seem more comfortable there.
As far as the right hand, I don't play anything else even close to this, so this is tough to get right for me.  This was my 9th take I think.  I find it a lot harder to get a clean bottleneck sound on a slow tune like this with minimal bass.  But it's comin' along...

Sweet sweet stuff.  The playing is great and the singing is soulful, and very honest.  You even make it sound contemporary.  Simon would be pleased.

I love the advent of this whole video thing.  It makes it so much more personal.

I've always considered that to be a great tune - and you really do it justice.  Thanks for posting.

Very Nice Brosna. I think I beat you in the dumbed-down department tho'. I do it in my string band: standard tuning G, C & D chords  :)

I truly appreciate all the kind words, my friends!
I get worried about sounding TOO contemporary sometimes.  And/or too generic...  But if you folks approve I guess I'm doin' okay! :D
Much thanks!
