Statesboro Blues
« on: January 22, 2014, 02:33:12 PM »
Testing a cheap and cheerful new webcam and thought it might be fun to revisit something I first posted on the Back Porch in 2005 (gulp).

Very much Chris Smither's version, rather than Blind Willie's.

The original post is here: http://weeniecampbell.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=953.msg7224#msg7224 along with the original recording.

Proof, if nothing else, that the voice is an instrument and practice makes you better at using it... ;)

Anyway- the new webcam recording is below.  I've not played it for a while and had the odd lyrical stumble, but its getting late and I haven't time to have another go- so here it is...

Cool! The vocal is great, just let it go a little more, feel free to ham it up, you're absolutely on pitch and have tons in reserve.

I think this is the first song I heard you play in Exeter.... when was that 2005 ? 2004 ?

You haven't improved at all :-)

That was really good, both vocals and guitar playing, well done.

Simon,

This is right there. It reminded me of when I accidentally stumbled into a Chris Smithers gig in a little caf? here in Galway before I started playing guitar.. I had never heard of him...he created magic then...you've done it here too. Thanks for posting this up.  Colm
