Good God, why doesn't that man yodel and be done with it? - A woman in the audience commenting on Peetie Wheatstraw's signature "ooh, well well", recounted by Teddy Darby, quoted in Paul Garon's The Devil's Son-In-Law

King Biscuit

The festival formerly and still colloquially known as King Biscuit, now officially Arkansas Blues & Heritage Fest, happens Oct. 4-6 in Helena, Ark., and you should go. You can check the lineup at http://www.bluesandheritage.com/2k7lineup.html . But, sort of like Centrum blues week, looking at the lineup doesn't tell the whole story. It's all about the atmosphere, hanging out, river, levee, barbecue, pig ears, people, buildings, history, etc etc. Quite a few other weenie-types also have made it an annual pilgrimage, including Jed, Lindy, Hard Times Howard and Taizz. So ask them if you want more reasons to go. It's the greatest blues festival, in the greatest location. And it's free. See y'all there! Cheers, SC
