Willie Doss
« on: May 18, 2008, 04:13:45 AM »
built a little Wille Doss discography (only his Newport Folk Festival 1964 recordings available, as far as I know) at http://www.wirz.de/music/doss.htm

Questions: Anybody knows anything about the whereabouts of the man (provided that he's still alive, which is most unlikely since he's been born 1899)?, any knowledge about date and location of his death ?
I wasn't able to find anything on the internet ...
Any response appreciated !
Stefan

There's a footnote to Len Kunstadt's lengthy review of the three day event which reads:

Vanguard records did a lot of field recording here at the festival. Certainly hope they captured plenty of good blues and gospel sound for all to hear.

With hindsight I think it's safe to say they did the artists proud....
