The Blues Revival Volume 1 (1963-1969) - Document Records
« on: October 22, 2013, 10:05:56 PM »
Anyone heard this yet or know anything more? Looks like for one thing there's a John Hurt song that hasn't appeared elsewhere in his discography, as far as I can recall:  I hate to see that evening sun go down. Which I assume is St. Louis Blues, played with a slide in Vestapol, from the clip where he says he learned it off a WC Handy record.

I have some of these on an old Document LP called Country Blues Live! Stefan Wirz has it on his site:

The Hurt stuff is good, the John Jackson stuff suffers from some tuning issues (he keeps fighting with one string as I remember). Don't remember about the Estes. Rest of the stuff wasn't on that LP.

Thanks Chris. The Sleepy John clips sound like they're from a big room, reverby theatre or something.

We should really start a thread on unavailable vinyl to torture ourselves.
