Sara Carter home recordings
(1/1)

Hi all,
Once again while looking for one thing I found another thing. That 'thing' being a reference to home recordings made by Sara Carter and sent to Maybelle Carter as a Christmas gift in 1965. This then led to Sara and Maybelle recording 'An Historic Reunion'. See http://www.bluegrassmuseum.org/sara-carter/ for more.
I'm a big fan of home recordings and a little digging found the below link which is a home recording of Sara Carter with Coy Bayes doing 'I'm Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes' and 'Little Moses'. It doesn't state whether it's the same home recordings which Sara sent to Maybelle but either way it's an interesting listen.

The sound quality is pretty rough and the transfer isn't the best but thought I'd share.
There are several more recordings here:

I've also found on youtube, a clip from the A.P. Carter Fold dedication in 1975, with Sara on guitar and Maybelle on autoharp playing "Happiest Days of All". It's a good, yet brief look at Sara's right hand strum.

I know it's a rather old post to reply to, but listening with halfway decent headphones, but I noticed in addition to guitar, there's also a 5 string banjo in the mix. Considering Sara's guitar is somewhat under-recorded, I'd suspect the banjoist to be Coy Bays.
