Brownie McGhee ... says that after the gig all the important folk people came over and told him that he had to move to New York because "they didn't have any blues singers up there; that Josh White was the only one, and he'd gone white." McGhee laughingly adds that when he got to New York and met Josh, "when i saw how much money he was making, I said, 'Hey, show me how to go white too!''" - from Society Blues, Elijah Wale

« on: July 11, 2006, 05:02:58 AM »
I'm pleased to announce that Allen's book, Clapton's Guitar: Watching Wayne Henderson Build the Pefect Instrument is a finalist for the Library of Virginia People's Choice Award. The winner will be determined by voting of the general public between now and July 14.

So if you liked the book, I'd encourage you to vote by clicking on the link below. Feel free to pass the link along to any friends, colleagues, and/or e-mail lists you might think appropriate.

If you haven't read the book, it is a wonderful read about the fin e craftsmanship of a hand made instrument. Wayne is a legendary builder and amazing bluegrass player. Enjoy!

Their system would appear to be open to abuse - you can vote as many times as you like.
