Dock Boggs and John Hurt collaborated on one piece for their New York audience: the evening's final tune, "Banjo Clog," featured banjo by Boggs and clog dancing by Hurt. The two then parted ways and pursued their new recording a performing careers - Peter K. Siegel, The Friends of Old Time Music
Yeah, UB, but once one person requests it everybody else has to wait for how ever long. I think I might have it tho' so I'll see if I can dig it up. If I haven't posted it by the time you get home, do it yourself. I haven't figured out if I can downlaod from the Juke and load the resultant file into Transcribe! yet, so an mp3 really helps. All for now. John C.

Killed fifteen chickens [and] wound[ed] that prattlin' dog
it sounds to me like "and" is sung low and quiet between "chickens" and the word that sounds like "wound".? I think he's saying "wounded", but the -ed get's dropped.? Admittedly, I'm not familiar with dogs that actually prattle, but that's what it sounds like to me.
Hi all, Wow, you guys sure beat me to it, but I'm not complaining.? Somehow I had gotten the idea that it was a brindle dog, but it doesn't sound remotely like that.? Sounds more like prattling or bridling, neither of which makes particular sense.? Oh well. How about Papa Charlie's touch and time?? Oof! All best, Johnm

OK. I'll start off with a really hard one -- "Airy Man Blues." Papa Charlie sings this really fast and the acoustic recording doesn't help any. Any corrections/suggestions would be appreciated, especially for the very last line of the second verse.
Now looky Mr. Bill, say you think you [is (or been) sharp], You know Miss Delinah done broke your heart She put you out, she told you to go, you never come back to her house no more Now you here tryin' to throw me down, you know you're the worstest man in town If you keep on talkin', and you surely will, Say you'll never get a ten-dollar bill
You can keep on talkin' little darling babe but don't need no airy man, I want these browns that never know a thing [maybe "his place"] to clearly understand, You can bring me my wood, You can bring me my clothes, You can iron my skirt, You can bless my soul, You can get yourself together, you can stay out with the weather I don't need no airy man.
Now there was an old lady and her husband They took a stroll just the other day She walked all out on State Street, Just to pass the time away Said she walked to the hop shack darling babe And these is the words she say, She's gonna smoke-a her hop, Gonna drink her tea Till the [??] on me

Good idea, LoneWolf. I've done a few, not necessarily early stuff, which can be damned hard to hear given the acoustical recording techniques - of which Airy Man is a great (and difficult) example.
Here's what I've got for "If I Got What You Want"
If I Got What You Want ? Papa Charlie Jackson In C, pitched B
Spoken: Hey man, don?t you know I?m in business now? People treddin? from miles and miles around to get my stuff.
What kind of stuff are you handlin??
Apples. Oranges. And bananas. And I got somethin? else too, but I?ll tell you about it a little later on.
Yeah man!
Oh lay it, papa. Think I ain?t. You tellin? me?
Now if I got what you want, come on get it Sweet baby, don?t you know you?re welcome to
If I got what you want, come on and get it Sweet baby, don?t you know you?re welcome to
If I got what you want, come on and get it Don?t you know you?re leavin? your papa with the weary blues?
Some women burn up all of your clothes Some women burn up all of your shoes But I?ve got a long tall mama now babe That really has studied my rules (Come get me, folks)
If I got what you want, come on and get it Sweet baby, don?t you know you?re welcome to
Spoken: If I got what you want, come on over in [Jewtown] and get it Sweet mama, you?re really perfectly welcome to
If I got what you want ? I hope I have ? come on and get it Don?t you know you?re leavin? your papa with the weary blues?
Some women get mad and burn up your clothes Some women get mad and burn up your shoes But I?ve got a long tall mama now babe That really have studied my rules Yeah man
If I got what you want, come on and get it Sweet baby, don?t you know you?re welcome to
Scat verse
2nd Scat verse
Some women burn up all of your clothes Some women burn up all of your shoes But I?ve got a long tall mama now babe That really has studied my rules (Come get me, folks)
If I got what you want, come on and get it Sweet baby, don?t you know you?re welcome to I mean, don?t you know you?re welcome to

Papa Charlie plays this one on guitar as I recall...
We Can?t Buy It ? Papa Charlie Jackson In D, pitched C#
Things getting tight in this town All the bootleggers are closing down
Because we can?t buy it We can?t buy it Town?s gettin? dry, we can?t buy it no more
I went cross town is where I used to stay The guy hasn?t got no liquor today
Chorus
Now the bootleggers cryin?, packin? their things Everywhere you go you can hear them sing
Chorus
I?d buy a drink, mama, just for you But thirty-five years will never do
Chorus
I used to get it for 25 cents a pint Now they closin? all the moonshine joints
Chorus
Now it t?ain?t no used to weep, ain?t no used to wail If you bought some of the hooch?? you?re going to jail
Chorus
All the bootleggers going to get a job They gonna join that everyday workin? mob
Chorus
I like my whiskey, like my wine But I can?t pay no ten thousand dollar fine
Chorus
edited the tuning. I had this one in dropped D on paper, but had decided awhile ago that it's in D, regular tuning, with the 5th string A being the low bass. Of course, JohnM's Papa Charlie keys thread has it that way as well.
