I won't pretend to have much knowledge of the hillbilly and old-timey material, but of the blues tracks only Bracey's (unbelievably awesome) "Woman Woman Blues" looks like something Yazoo hasn't released before. There are a lot of repeats from previous Yazoo releases. Makes me wonder if the track list is legit. Of course, maybe the unheard tracks can be found amongst the old-timey stuff. I just don't know it.

I agree with you, Jeff.  Most of the blues stuff has been put out numerous times previously.  One can only hope that these versions come from cleaner copies that haven't been made available on previous re-issues.
All best,

hello friend,
i think i'd be less disappointed with that song list (assuming it's legit) if this project was another 2 volumes of "times ain't like they used to be". but given that its "rare" recordings under the "stuff dreams are made of" line,  i wasn't expecting to know the majority of them. let alone know them from other yazoo releases, to boot.
my guess is some of them are alternate takes. & that some of them are the same remasters used on recent blues images calendars. if richard nevins is involved, the set should sound great. just not what i had in mind.

*edit*
that said? i just found this on the blues images website.
?   The sequel, The Return Of Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor with a 2 CD set of 46 classic Blues and Country songs recorded in the 1920?s. Many of them are among the great iconic performances of the entire genre, including selections by legendary performers Bukka White, Charley Patton, Dennis McGee, Eck Robertson, Ishman Bracey, Uncle Dave Macon and many more.

?   The sound quality represents a new high standard even for Yazoo which has always been known for great remastered sound. Many tracks sound like modern recordings with the performer right there in the room with you!

?   Includes a 54 page booklet which tells the story of collecting rare 78 records from the beginning in the 1920?s through the 1960?s. All brought to life with first hand recollections by the old-time crazy, wacky pioneer collectors themselves! The booklet is also full of rare photos and label shots

- makes me want to hear it now ;) also, that is the track listing they have there, so it is indeed, correct.

Just got an advance copy. I have to say the remastering is the best I've heard.  Although I can only vouch for the blues songs. The booklet looks fascinating although I've only done a quick scan.

Also just a quick plug - I'll be interviewing Richard Nevins on the show on 10/7.

This set may be just slightly delayed.
Anecdotally - whilst the advance copies were fine, the actual production discs were not up to scratch in terms of sound .
Nevins listened, then apparently rejected the results as unsatisfactory.
It is being repressed either at the moment, or very soon.
