I'd too had previously suggested Lomax's William Brown was kid bailey...

yep, I think they sound like the same guy - and even if not there's probably like a 70% chance his name was Willie Brown anyway  :P

On page 197 of th New Version of "King of the Delta Blues" The authors report an observation by Elizabeth Moore that she "recalled that Willie Brown around 1930 mentioned to her that he had recently recorded with Kid Bailey, a story that for more than 35 years she dismissed as an empty claim"

Sounds like it might have been true

Im sure it was already said, but Joe Callicott saw "2 little guys" in the recording booth the same day at that session. I think that also disproves the 2nd Willie Brown described as large as the main culprit. It was Little Willie Brown who played and recorded with Patton and House and Bailey.
