Artists surveyed on the CD include such early bluesmasters as
Barrelhouse Buck, Speckled Red, Roosevelt Sykes, St Louis Jimmy,

The old Yazoo lp St. Louis Town with Peetie Wheetstraw on the cover is also great.  I love the St. Louis guitar sound e.g. Henry Townsend and Charley Jordan.

I was just wandering around the Innernet this morning, trying to avoid what I should've been doing, when I came across this blog for the first time. Obviously it has already been discovered by other Weenies.

This is a blog, so buyer beware. The author does seem to have some cred, but I'm in the dark about him, apologies if I should know better. And the other blog posts, on the many ways that St. Louis has been overlooked as an important blues town, are worth looking at. Some posts are on jazz musicians such as Clark Terry.

I encountered the book in this video. I wanted a copy but got scared away by the price (starting at 300 dollars currently).

Yeah, I missed the chance to pick it up when it was published. I thought that one of the local libraries would get it and I'd eyeball it first, but they never did. Then I forgot about it and when I thought to look again it was out of print and the prices for used copies were unforgiving, to say the least.
