A website and some gigs...
« on: November 13, 2014, 04:53:19 AM »
I find the idea of promoting myself fairly excruciating but it would be nice to get out and play more, so I'm forcing myself to do it despite the discomfort.  So I put together a small website for promotional purposes and to direct people / providers of potential gigs to.

http://sfmoonshineblues.wix.com/blues

On 29 November, I am playing "Musicians on the Run" in Bedminster, Bristol.  20 musicians, 20 venues, 20 minute sets in as many as I can get around.  Totally acoustic which is going to be tough on the voice (my new Michael Messer '28 resonator should help with the guitar volume).  Seemed pointless doing it without having a half decentwebsite to direct people to if they are interested.  Might even get a proper gig somewhere out of it...

I'm also doing the Independent Market at Frome (which has a proper outdoor stage and PA) on 7 December, and a special "Bluebird Cafe" event on 27 December with a variety of other musicians including the probably soon to be famous Darren Hodge.  I just hope I don't have to go on after him again!

Simon,

Well done! "A journey of 1000 miles starts with one single step". This is a nice promotional package: website, cd, and gigs. definitely a step in the right direction. Enjoy the trip!

That's a very nice job on the site, Simon.  It's easy to navigate and I think it was a good idea to have performance footage.  Best of luck with it and the jobs it helps you get.
All best,
Johnm

Thanks John. The site was really easy and quick to do. I can definitely recommend wix for these sorts of sites. Free too.

Phil-  you've said that for a while so I'm giving it a go!
